We are most interested in proposals focused on proving the technical feasibility of an innovation for achieving the targeted use for the recycled material.

We are unlikely to fund proposals to incinerate the reclaimed materials but might be interested in those that convert the material into new or synthetic fuels.

We are unlikely to fund projects to further develop research topics already receiving funding or that focus on existing uses of reclaimed mattress materials.

MRC will again fund pilot projects that further these goals. MRC will provide up to $100,000 to fund one or more projects in 2024.

MRC intends to award funding to project(s) that will:

- Establish or improve education about existing Mattress collection channels (through no-costretailer pickup and/or MRC drop-off sites)
- Establish or improve awareness or enforcement of illegal dumping laws for Mattresses

- Establish or improve Mattress drop-off programs

- Beautify the area of an illegal dump site to deter future dumping

California communities that meet the criteria specified in the application can apply.

The deadline for submitting completed applications is 5 p.m. (PST), Friday, Nov. 17.
