California has now enacted Assembly Bill 187 (AB 187), which amends the state’s existing mattress recycling law and expands access for California residents to MRC’s already successful statewide mattress recycling network.
MRC staff attended the annual meeting of the Connecticut Recyclers Coalition (CRC) this month to meet with members of the recycling community and key stakeholders. Held at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford, the keynote speaker at the event was DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes, who shared an update on DEEP’s 20 by 20 initiative, sustainability and the circular economy.

The Mattress Recycling Council welcomes Lori Barnes as our new Marketing and Communications Manager for the MRC brand. She will work with manufacturers and retailers affected by mattress recycling laws to facilitate compliance and promote recycling efforts through public relations, advertising and political support for MRC’s programs.
Welcome Dan McGowan as our newest Northeast Program Coordinator. He will oversee the recycling programs in Connecticut and Rhode Island and manage relationships with solid waste facilities, retailers, recyclers and other environmental organizations.
