Mattress recycling operations continue at facilities such as Willimantic Waste, even during the COVID-19 shutdown. More than 80 percent of a mattress can be recycled, eliminating tons of waste from landfills. MRC has focused its efforts on sustainable mattress recycling, and has become a leader in an evolving worldwide recycling landscape. Mattress Recycling Program Hits Milestones in Connecticut

Today, April 22, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. What a milestone. It is fitting that while Earth Day has reached this auspicious milestone, the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC) reached an environmental milestone of its own: recycling more than six million mattresses in less than five years through its Bye Bye Mattress program. Six million mattresses equate to more than 210 million pounds of material diverted from landfills by MRC’s recyclers. Mattress Recycling Council Reaches 6 Million Mattress Milestone

The Mattress Recycling Council has recycled more than 6 million mattresses in less than five years through its Bye Bye Mattress program. Laid end to end, those mattresses would span more than 7,000 miles from coast-to-coast between the program’s three states. Mattress Recycling Council Launches Sustainability Program in California

The Mattress Recycling Council has launched the Sleep Products Sustainability Program (SP2), a new environmental certification and sustainability initiative for California mattress manufacturers. Training and certification in the program is offered at no cost to mattress manufacturers that want to improve operations at their manufacturing plants, distribution centers, warehouses and/or offices, officials said.
