Lori Barnes Joins Marketing and Communications Team

The Mattress Recycling Council welcomes Lori Barnes as our new Marketing and Communications Manager for the MRC brand. She will work with manufacturers and retailers affected by mattress recycling laws to facilitate compliance and promote recycling efforts through public relations, advertising and political support for MRC’s programs.

Prior to joining MRC, Lori worked as an independent communications consultant, spearheading efforts to build brand awareness, manage media relations, foster effectiveness and communicate mission to meet client needs. She previously led communications for trade associations in the automotive and insurance industries.

“I’m looking forward to meeting our members and stakeholders across the industry to foster awareness and support MRC’s mattress recycling program,” said Barnes.

Cherryland Monthly Mattress Collection Event

This month, MRC and Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley hosted the first of many free mattress collection events in the Cherryland neighborhood to help combat illegal dumping in the Hayward area.

With the help of the Downtown Streets Team, mattress drop-offs from both residential and commercial customers are accepted at these events, which will be held from 8am-2pm on the 3rd Saturday of every month through the rest of the year.
