MRC Adds Dan McGowan to Northeast Operations Team
Welcome Dan McGowan as our newest Northeast Program Coordinator. He will oversee the recycling programs in Connecticut and Rhode Island and manage relationships with solid waste facilities, retailers, recyclers and other environmental organizations.
Prior to joining MRC, Dan was the Solid Waste Supervisor for the Town of Branford, Conn., for six years, where he worked in the Inland/Wetlands and Natural Resources Department. He is currently the President of the Connecticut Recyclers Coalition and the former Chairman of the Connecticut Product Stewardship Council. He is a graduate from Trinity College with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Earth Day 2019
We were proud to support more than 20 Earth Day events throughout California and Connecticut. Visitors to our booth learned about the mattress recycling process and how to recycle their mattress in their community.
Stockton Environmental Transformation Event
MRC’s Special Projects Coordinator Liz Wagner joined the California Environmental Protection Agency in Stockton to participate in the CalEPA Environmental Justice Task Force Initiative & Local Community Revitalization Efforts. Liz joined a panel discussion about reducing illegal dumping, as well as met members of the Stockton community. Residents were provided information about local recyclers and free drop-off locations and were invited to make suggestions for potential collection site and event locations.
Liz Wagner exhibited at the CalEPA Environmental Justice Task Force Initiative & Local Community Revitalization Efforts. She provided members of the community with program information and answered various program questions.

New Commercial Volume Drop-off Sites in Hartford, CT

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley Oakland ReStore
San Francisco bay area residents and businesses have a new free drop-off location thanks to an innovative partnership with Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley that has established a permanent drop-off site at the ReStore location in Oakland. Local leaders and public officials celebrated the opening of the free drop-off location at the Oakland ReStore. Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley and MRC Managing Director Mike O’Donnell were joined by Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley’s Director of Retail Operations Frank Atkins and PR and Events Manager Patti Wang Cross.
